(BearCom) teamed up with pdvWireless to provide a shipment of fully provisioned and ready-to-use two-way radios to assist relief efforts on the island of Puerto Rico. Since the BearCom Houston Team was extremely active during recovery efforts along the Texas Gulf Coast after Hurricane Harvey, the Houston Mayor’s Office invited the company to participate in the Puerto Rico assistance initiatives. To supply the radios and infrastructure, BearCom turned to pdvWireless, a private network communications carrier, who was eager to help. The BearCom team tuned, programmed, prepared, and sent to Puerto Rico 120 Motorola Solutions XTS2500 portable P25 two-way radios, 4 Quantar P25 repeaters to extend radio range, and 4 duplexers to help rebuild wireless infrastructure. September 12, 2017September 12, 2017: Houston TX — On August 25, 2017 at peak intensity Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Rockport, Texas (near Houston). Over the next four-days, many areas in Southeast, Texas received an unprecedented 40 inches or more of rain, which triggered massive flooding. Several team members from the BearCom Houston office suffered complete and total loss of their homes, vehicles, and possessions. Many others experienced extensive damage and clean-up efforts. The BearCom office itself, which is located in Deer Park, escaped flooding, however the location was inaccessible for 2-3 days and many BearCom service vans were affected by the storm.
