PuertoOctober 24, 2017: Houston TX — Earlier this month, the BearCom Group, Inc. (BearCom) teamed up with pdvWireless to provide a shipment of fully provisioned and ready-to-use two-way radios to assist relief efforts on the island of Puerto Rico. Since the BearCom Houston Team was extremely active during recovery efforts along the Texas Gulf Coast after Hurricane Harvey, the Houston Mayor’s Office invited the company to participate in the Puerto Rico assistance initiatives. To supply the radios and infrastructure, BearCom turned to pdvWireless, a private network communications carrier, who was eager to help. The BearCom team tuned, programmed, prepared, and sent to Puerto Rico 120 Motorola Solutions XTS2500 portable P25 two-way radios, 4 Quantar P25 repeaters to extend radio range, and 4 duplexers to help rebuild wireless infrastructure. The 800 MHz repeaters are believed to be the first interoperable communication repeaters on the island. The supplying of the equipment was coordinated by pdvWireless. Gringo’s Mexican Kitchen and Jimmy Changas restaurants in the Houston area provided the private plane that transported the radios and other supplies to Puerto Rico. “We are extremely grateful and humbled by the outstanding efforts the BearCom Houston Team has put forth to help others,” said Mark Kroh, President of BearCom. “These dedicated individuals have spent an enormous amount of their own time and energies over the past several weeks working with first responders, customers, residents, and teammates to assist in recovery efforts in their own community and now in Puerto Rico. We can’t thank pdvWireless enough for the supplying of the communications equipment to help the people of Puerto Rico.” To improve recovery team connectivity, efficiency and safety, these instant push-to-talk communication devices are being used by a major U.S. health-based organization throughout Puerto Rico both in care facilities and in the field. The devices are especially important for doctors, nurses, and other caregivers to communicate in areas where transportation is limited and infrastructure is severely damaged. “pdvWireless is extremely proud of the work our team put forth in coordinating the supply of these radios to BearCom for use in Maria’s recovery efforts,” said John C. Pescatore, President and CEO of pdvWireless. “In unfortunate times like these, the ability to work in close partnerships with many of our industry contacts and thereby help to extend much-needed equipment for the greater good is a privilege we are grateful to carry out. We thank BearCom for the opportunity to serve as a partner in the multiple hurricane recovery efforts they employed; we truly value the great partnership that we share.” About BearCom BearCom Group, Inc. provides a broad line of high-performance two-way wireless communications products, rentals, services, and complete mobility solutions.
