Businesses in the Houston metropolitan area now have an opportunity to ramp up the productivity of their mobile two-way radio (walkie-talkie) users, thanks to a new partnership between BearCom and pdvWireless.
This alliance allows BearCom clients who use Motorola Solutions MOTOTRBO digital radios to tap into a wide-area network encompassing most of the Houston Gulf Coast region. (Similar services are on the way for Dallas, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, and other major metropolitan areas.)
One key feature of the WAN solution is DispatchPlus, a system management application that pdvWireless developed to help companies streamline the resource management and field productivity of their mobile field workforce while simplifying dispatch and tracking.
DispatchPlus operates with 900 MHz Motorola Solutions two-way radios, which are the MOTOTRBO XPR7580 and SL7580 portables and the MOTOTRBO XPR5580 mobile. Using the pdvWireless wide area network, DispatchPlus increases collaboration between the home office and mobile work teams.
With the touch of a button, field workers can communicate with dispatch using customer-defined subject lines such as “Job Complete” or “Service Outage” -- all of which saves time to empower more service calls with the same number of staff. In addition, DispatchPlus uses GPS tracking and can establish virtual geofences to increase worker monitoring, visibility and performance. Automatic alerts can be set up to provide arrival and departure information on each worker.

DispatchPlus software comes standard for subscribers to the pdvWireless network, and there no extra licensing or usage fees. With digital functionality, it’s possible to analyze call patterns and driving data, as well as job and location scheduling.

- Web-based dispatch consoles — so dispatchers can use any PC to stay in touch with their remote teams.
